Charles E. "Charlie" Hoffman, 77, of Springfield, passed away at 9:55 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Heritage Health. Charlie was born June 17, 1940 in Springfield, the son of George Henry and Ellen E. Dawson Hoffman. He was a resident of Taylor House prior to moving to Brother James Court. Charlie loved a good piece of pie and was a big sweetheart. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, George A., William P., George H., and John Hoffman; and two sisters, Rose Catherine Richardson and Dorothy Ann Eilman. He is survived by his sisters, Alice L. Hoffman of Springfield and Helen H. Sokolis of Santa Rosa, CA; nieces and nephews, Margie Sokolis, Thomas Sokolis, Nancy Schmidt, Catherine Greig, Keith Richardson, William "Andy" Eilman, and Cynthia Farrow; and several great-nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
