
Charles N. Knox, 66, of Springfield, passed away at 12:17 a.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at St. John's Hospital in the Emergency Room. He was born September 3, 1934 the son of Eugene and Rita Williams Knox in Union City, TN. He married Rose Marie Ziogas at Kumler United Methodist Church on October 15, 1983 and she survives. Mr. Knox worked for Evans and Mason for 19 years and then worked for the Secretary of State for 12 years. He was active in the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and was past State President, past Local and past central regional President. Mr. Knox held many chairmanships for various Eagle charities at the Grand, Local, and State levels. He was a United States NAVY veteran and was a member of the American Legion. He was also the President of the Khoury League Umpires for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He is survived by his wife: Rose Marie Knox of Springfield; a daughter: Terri Knox of Springfield; a son: Tom (wife,Virginia) Knox of Springfield; a step-son: Jim (wife,Susan) Maurer of Cary, IL; two brothers: Robert (wife,Frances) Knox of Chatham, IL, and Jim (wife,Pat) Knox of Springfield; four step-grandsons: Tim Smith, Michael Pigg, and Logan and Ryan Maurer; and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2001 with an Eagle's Service at 6 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 10, 2001 with the Rev. Patrick Render CSV officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Diabetes Fund, 2700 E. Ash Springfield, IL 62703.
