Charles B. "Chuck" McCormick

Charles B. "Chuck" McCormick, 86, of Springfield, passed away at 7:42 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. Chuck was born February 25, 1928 in Chicago, a son of Charles B. and Blanche Leonard McCormick Sr. He married Maryclare Harrold on September 9, 1951 at St. Angela's Church in Chicago. Chuck graduated early from Loyola Academy in Chicago and enlisted in the Navy at age 17. He attended naval flight training at Notre Dame. He then went on to attend Wright Junior College before graduating from John Marshall Law School. Chuck was appointed Police Magistrate in Rolling Meadows, IL, prior to becoming a bankruptcy judge for Federal Court. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. He enjoyed flying, sailing, golf, and was an avid Notre Dame fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; one-son, Michael McCormick; one sister, Jeanne Martin; and one brother, Bob McCormick. Chuck is survived by his wife, Maryclare McCormick of Springfield; one daughter, Kathleen (husband, William) Ploetz of Lenoir City, TN; two sons, Martin (wife, Juanita) McCormick of Forest Lake, MN; Stephen (wife, Shannon Dewith) McCormick of Springfield; four grandchildren, Justin Ploetz, Julie (husband, Daniel) Hall, Conor McCormick, and Carey McCormick; two great-grandchildren, Logan Hall and Landon Hall; one sister, Mary Lois (husband, Greg) Langlotz of Volo, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Prayers will be held at 3:00 p.m. Memorial Mass: 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. Colette Parish, 3900 Meadow Drive, Rolling Meadows.
