Charles T. "Pete" Peters

Charles T. "Pete" Peters, 75, of Pittsfield, died at 4:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, IL. Pete was born September 8, 1939 in New Berlin, the son of Theodore and Josephine M. Ludwig Peters. He married Sara Mae Patterson on December 27, 1970. They later divorced and remained friends. She was his caregiver for the last nine months. Pete was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rosemary Frank. Pete attended New Berlin High School and St. James Trade School, graduating in the brick laying trade. He worked with George Keifer in New Berlin for a few years and then moved his trade to Pittsfield. Pete served his country in the United States Army in the Military Police, earning the rank of Specialist 4th Class while stationed in Paris, France. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pittsfield. He is survived by his son, Joseph Peters of Odessa, MO; daughter, Darla (husband, Gerald) Harris of Odessa, MO; three grandchildren, Theodore Wayne Harris, Emily Jo Peters, and Tabitha Marie Mae Harris; two brothers, Thomas E. (wife, Irene) Peters and James F. Peters, both of New Berlin; brother-in-law, Thomas Frank of New Berlin; two nieces, Tomi and Toni and several cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at St. Mary's Church, 304 E. Birch St., New Berlin. Visitation will begin with a prayer service. Additional Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will also receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015 at St. Mary's Church. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Kevin Laughery and Rev. Mark Schulte, celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in New Berlin. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Mary's Cemetery, 304 E.
