

He was born in Akron, Ohio on September 18, 1934, the son of Clara Holman and Charles E. Robbins Sr. As a child moved to Loami where he attended New Berlin grade school and high school, graduating in 1953. During high School Charlie excelled in sports. He married Joan Schroll in 1990 and adopted Kristie Brandt and Kim Noonan.
He served 2 years in the U.S. Army from 1957-58. After service he was employed by Chicago Air Defense Command NORAD.
Charlie began his career in real estate in 1962. He opened his own firm, Charles Robbins Realtor, in 1965. Charlie had a meaningful impact on the Springfield community and surrounding areas by developing residential subdivisions, shopping centers and numerous office developments as well as hotels and restaurants. He was instrumental in the formation of Illinois National Bank where he served on the board of directors.
He was a member of Sangamon Club, Island Bay Yacht Club and Illini Country Club. He was a lifetime member of the Capitol Association of Realtors and a supporter of APL and Adopt-A-Pet, Benld, IL.
Charlie loved to travel. He spent many years in Florida and enjoyed their condo in the Ozarks.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Kristie (Rick) Brandt and Kim (Tom) Noonan; grandchildren, Sierra-Shae Brandt, Hanna, Ridgely & Davis Noonan; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; and his beloved dog, Brandi.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Holman Robbins; father, Charles Robbins Sr. and his beloved dog, Muffy.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 4th at the funeral Chapel with Rev. Warren Brosi officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
