

Charles "Chic" Sheppard, 80, of Berlin, died at 6:35 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at his home. Chic was born August 13, 1934 in Fulton, KY, the son of Charles and Elsie Mae Harris Sheppard. Chic attended New Berlin High School and was very proud of being a Pretzel. He was employed with Sangamo Electric for 28 years as a die caster. He then became a hot tar roofer. After retiring, Chic became a member of the Breakfast Club at The Still Tavern and ran a small mowing business. When younger, Chic drove race cars and remained an avid fan. Although he loved the Cardinals, basketball was his favorite sport. He also greatly enjoyed caring for wildlife. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory; and brother, "Jake" Sheppard. He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Berlin; sons, Ronald, Wayne and Jerry all of Berlin, and Glenn (wife, Teresa) Sisco of Springfield; daughter, Mary "Tinkerbell" (husband, Rich) Behl of New Berlin; grandchildren, Heather, Bryon, Andrew and Hailey; four great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Smith of New Berlin, Carol (husband, Earl) Loyd of Berlin, and Barbara (husband, Charles) Lowe of Riverton; sister in law, Marjorie Koch; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Warren Brosi officiating. Burial will follow at Woodwreath Cemetery.
