
SPRINGFIELD – Charles Vrabel, 70, of Springfield, IL, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. Charles was born in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Arnold and Lillian (Miller) Vrabel, and they preceded him in death. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Millikin University and a Master’s Degree in Legal Studies from the University of Illinois. He married Dee Rossi in Springfield, IL on August 9, 1974, and she survives. Charles retired as a Hearings Officer for the Secretary of State Merit Commission after 40 years of employment. He loved his children and family, was an animal lover, served as a mentor for those earning their GED, and was a jazz music enthusiast. Besides his wife, Charles is survived by his daughter, 2 sons, 2 granddaughters, 4 step-granddaughters, 3 great-grandsons and his beloved grand-dog Abbey the Maltese. He is also survived by 2 sisters and a brother and several nieces and nephews. Graveside respects will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sangamon County Chapter of the American Heart Association.
