Cheri Gay Maxey

Cheri Gay Maxey, 63, of Chatham, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on April 24, 1950 in Champaign, IL to Cleo and Mary Dean Morris Bayles. A son, Brent, preceded her in death. She married Randy Brent Maxey February 1, 1969. Cheri worked at the Chatham Area Public Library and enjoyed the Wednesday afternoon book club with friends. Mrs. Maxey attended Chatham United Methodist Church and was a member of Sara Circle. She will be missed by her husband, Randy; daughter, Sarah (Caleb) Hoover of Springfield; son Nathan Maxey (fianc�e Niki Habbe) of Savanah, GA; grandchildren, Zoe, Lukas, Zenna Hoover; parents, Cleo and Mary Dean Bayles of Loda, IL; Twin sister, Debbie (Rodney) Banks of Aurora, IL; brother, Scott (Jo) Bayles of Loda; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Gathering and ceremony: Her family will greet friends at a memorial gathering from 5 PM until the time of the memorial service at 6 PM, Friday, August 16 at Sangamon Prairie Reception Center, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, with Rev. Sara Isbell, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois, Chatham.
