Chris R. "Randy" Throckmorton

Randy was born in Springfield, the son of C. Robert and Irene Throckmorton. He graduated from PORTA High School and went on to earn his degree from Illinois State University.

Randy married Jan on August 14th, 1976, and the couple had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Randy devoted 30 years of his career to the Illinois Department of Agriculture, from which he retired. Never one to sit still, he continued serving his community as a substitute teacher in the Athens and Rochester school districts, where he enjoyed working with students.

A man of quiet strength and steady faith, Randy found his greatest joy in his children and grandchildren. He was a dedicated volunteer at Western Oaks Baptist Church, and in his free time he loved golfing and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Jan; his children, Emily (Ryan) Pate, Garrick (Cecily) Throckmorton, and Nicholas (Kristin) Throckmorton; his grandchildren, Haley Pate, Claire Bivens, Kaylee Pate, Creighton Throckmorton, Beckett Throckmorton, Annika Throckmorton, and Pierce Throckmorton; and his brother, Rob (Paula) Throckmorton.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 am on September 12th, with a service to follow at 11:00am, at Western Oaks Baptist Church, 5345 Old Jacksonville Road, Springfield, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Western Oaks Baptist Church.
