Clerington Lenon Dawson

Clerington Lenon "CL" Dawson, 91, of Lincoln, died at 6:40 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at The Christian Village in Lincoln. CL was born June 13, 1927 in Pocahontas, AR, the son of Henry Burl and Troy Lulu Beatrice Breeding Dawson. He married Dorothy Marie Cagle on November 25, 1948 in Pocahontas, AR. CL obtained his GED from the Scottsdale, AZ school system in 1980 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a cook during WWII. He was a member of Sutton Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed tinkering with cars and home jobs. He also loved horses, motorcycles, ham radios, and he sang in a quartet and church choirs. CL was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Harold and Henry Dawson. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Lincoln; son, Doug (wife, Brenda) Dawson of Surprise, AZ; daughter, Dorothy "Dee" (husband, Jim) Hoover of Springfield; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Sutton Freewill Baptist Church, 5421 Highway 62W, Pocahontas, AR. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Sutton Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Barnett officiating. Burial will follow at Sutton Cemetery.
