

Corinne “Connie” Ketterer, 61, of Springfield, died at 7:11 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2006 at St. John’s Hospital. Connie was born on December 20, 1944 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of John E. and Frances Mae Wells Ketterer. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and Indiana University where she received her bachelors and masters degree in speech pathology. She had been employed at St. John’s Hospital, Rehab Outreach, Lewis Memorial Christian Village and most recently, at Sunrise Manor in Virden and Friendship Home in Carlinville. Connie was an avid animal advocate especially for birds and cats. She was an active member of the American Horse Shows Association and the American Saddle bred Horse Association. She started riding horses at age 13, and she competed in saddle seat equitation. She was a member of the Catholic faith. Connie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one aunt, Sr. Ernestine Ketterer, O.S. U. of Alton and eight cousins. Cremation accorded by Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. The family welcomes friends to visit at a Memorial Gathering from 9:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Christ The King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry, Springfield. A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Christ the King Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Wonder Avian Rescue, (WOWAR), 2571 A. County Road 500 E., Mahomet, IL 61853.
