

Dale was born on June 25, 1935, in New Holland, IL, the son of Carl A. and Ruth V. (Ewers) Bergman. He married Sandra “Sandy” Jean Sumski on February 13, 1960.
Dale served his country in the United States Army. He drove a Schlitz beer truck and worked for 32 years as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Delmar Bergman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sandy Bergman of Chatham; two sons, Roger (wife, April) Bergman of Thayer and Scott Bergman of Springfield; three grandchildren, Emily (Timothy) Brown, Riley Bergman, and Jenna Bergman; one great granddaughter, Nora Brown; and one brother, David (wife, Diane) Bergman of Mason City.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Joseph Molloy officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors to be provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense. The family suggests casual attire for the ceremonies.
