
He was born February 15, 1957 to Lila and Harold Cox.
Dale retired from Springfield City Public Works. He drove a truck and dispatched for several years. His health forced him into early disability retirement.
Dale was dearly loved by family and friends. He enjoyed drinking coffee, family get-togethers, long scenic drives, and his dog. He loved all animals. Dale had great fun playing poker with family members. He favored country and western music but would listen to other styles. Dale, himself, played the guitar and sang.
Since the death of his wife, Imogene, Dale appeared very lonely and lost. He was very inhibited, yet mixed and mingled when the opportunity arose.
Preceding Dale in death are both parents, Harold and Lila Cox, an older brother, Earl Edwards, and one nephew, Aaron Hill.
Surviving are brothers, Sonny Cox, Ronnie Cox, and Dean Cox; Sisters, Mary Cox, Sandy Cox, Marilyn Hill, and Lila Holmes;Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, several cousins, and one Uncle Buck Hill. He is also survived by close friends, Gene Vaughn, Donald Harris, and Shirley Shore.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, IL 62703.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 10 am at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
Dale will be missed by all who loved him, but God take “His” when it is time.
