He was born on May 12, 1946 in Springfield, the son of the late Lloyd Henry Hewitt and Norma Jean (Topfer) Clotfelter.
Dale served in the U.S. Army. He retired from the City of Springfield Street Department after 22 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Anchor Boat Club in Springfield. He enjoyed spending time with friends and with his dog “Wolfie”.
He is survived by his son Cory (wife Andrea) Hewitt of Springfield; his grandson Bryce Hewitt; his brother John Hewitt; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Kay Nolan and Connie Wardell.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 from 10:30 am until time of the memorial service at 11:30 am. Private inurnment will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield. Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded.
