Dale Vernon Wacaser, 79, of Springfield, passed away at 11:10 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2002 at his residence. Dale was born May 19, 1923 the son of Herschel and Mabel F. Thatcher Wacaser in Decatur. He married Loretta Russo April 14, 1951 in Decatur. Dale graduated from Milliken University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He served in the Army 9th Airforce during WWII from November 14, 1942 until August 28, 1945. He retired from the State of Illinois Department of Public Aid in 1989 as Methods and Systems Advisor. He was a member of American Legion Post 129. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Donald. He is survived by his wife: Loretta of Springfield, two sons: Stephen Wacaser of Terre Haute, IN, Greg Wacaser of Springfield; two daughters: Carol Wacaser of Athens, Elizabeth Wacaser of Springfield; two brothers: Everett Wacaser of Henderson, NV, Lyle Wacaser of Memphis, TN and several nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
