

He was born in Springfield on December 13, 1947, the son of Michael J. and Eileen (Dacy) Connolly. Dan married Bev DeRosa on September 5, 1967, at Church of the Little Flower.
Dan graduated from Griffin High School in 1965. He proudly served his country first in the United States Marine Corps, and then in the Illinois Air National Guard, retiring in 2005. Dan enjoyed golfing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a faithful member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Rochester, where he served as a Eucharistic and Hospitality Minister. Dan was compassionate, generous, and humble. He was a great friend to all who knew him and will be forever loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dan is survived by his wife, Bev; son, Dan (Sue) Connolly, Jr. of Chatham; daughter, Carrie (John Lisle) Connolly of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren, Michael Rechner, Anna Connolly Lisle, Seamus Connolly Lisle, and Ella Connolly Lisle; sisters, Michelle (Ken) Campbell of Sherman and Mary Long of Albany, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Mass of Christian Burial: 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Catholic Church of St. Jude, 633 S. Walnut St., Rochester, with Very Rev. Brian Alford, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
