Daniel Bort Dollison, 72, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026. Born on October 7, 1953, in Logan, Ohio, Daniel was the only child of Verle and LaVerne Dollison. He grew up in Ohio and carried those roots with him throughout his life.
Daniel married Nancy Ann Couter on November 9, 2002, at Saint Agnes Church in Springfield, Illinois, beginning a devoted partnership grounded in faith and family. The two were best friends and loved to travel, garden, golf, watch Notre Dame football, and dote on their beloved dogs.
Daniel was a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame, earning his degree in business in 1976 in South Bend, Indiana. His education, experiences, and lifelong friends he made there remained an important part of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Dollison; “sister-cousins” Jane Johnson and Judi Russell; and cousin Thomas Corbin of Wyoming. He is also survived by Marjorie Dollison of Logan, Ohio, as well as many extended family members who will all remember him with love.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Agnes Church in Springfield, Illinois, on Friday July 10th at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Decatur, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the Smith Alzheimer’s Center at SIU Medicine in Springfield, Illinois.
