

"HUD" Daniel LeRoy Huddleston Jr., 60, of Springfield, passed away at 6:02 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at his residence. Hud was born on September 15, 1955 to Daniel and Mary Roesch Huddleston Sr. He married his high school sweetheart, Kim Sims, on Aug 2, 1975. Hud was a 1973 graduate of Lanphier High School and worked for Local 18 as a Cement Finisher from 1978 until his retirement in 2012. He is a past Apprenticeship Instructor, as well as Financial Secretary for Local 18 Area 539. He was the owner/operator of the "Hangout Unwind Dance Saloon." He was a member and past President of the Lincoln Land Chapter of A.B.A.T.E. and a proud long-time member of the Iron Sleds M.C. He was the first male to become a member of the VFW Auxiliary at Post 10302. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, camping, riding his beloved motorcycles, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was a hands-on Dad, a Khoury League baseball coach, and taught his sons how to work on cars and ride motorcycles. He founded the Brass Monkey Poker Run in 2000, with all proceeds going to the VFW Post 10302. He was instrumental in starting The Hippy Run/Benefit in 2006 with his childhood friend, Patrick Achas, with all proceeds going to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Vigil. Although he never served in the Armed Forces, he had a kinship with all veterans. He walked every year at the Vigil, and after leaving the hospital for the last time in May, he requested to be driven around the Memorial. He leaves behind his wife Kim; sons, Daniel (Krista Potthoff) Huddleston, Jeremiah (Lori Beth) Huddleston, and William (Samantha) Huddleston; ten grandchildren, Christian, Devon, Jesse, Kaleb, and Noah Huddleston, David Huston, Brittney Huston, Allie Huston-Hatch, and Alex and Chase Potthoff; one great-grandson, Kayden; sisters, Dodie Desrosiers, Donna (Chuck) Pryer, Debbie (Dale) Smith; brother, Dick (Kathy) Huddleston; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Celebration of Life: Family will host a Celebration of Life following a procession beginning at Butler Funeral Homes, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. All are encouraged to join Hud on his final ride. Celebration will continue at the VFW # 10302, 2349 Stockyard Road, Springfield.
