

Darlene Mae Claywell of Georgetown, GA, formerly of Springfield, IL, took her final journey to the Lord at 12:50 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2011, surrounded by her family, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Darlene was born February 5, 1934 in Springfield, the daughter of Leslie Hadley and Thelma Creighton Myers. She married John Claywell on April 3, 1952 in Springfield; he preceded her in death in 2001. Darlene worked as a bookkeeper and spent her entire working career in the accounting profession. In Illinois, she was involved in the Jerome Women's Club. She and her late husband were members of AMVETS and Good Sam's RV Club. In Georgia, she was a member of Senior Circle, where she enjoyed fellowship during her travels with her many friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Joanne Million. She is survived by her children, Pam (husband, Mike) Wollesen of Springfield, Susan (husband, Terry) Doerfler of Springfield, Sandy (husband, Craig) LaFrance of Cumming, GA, and David Claywell of Buford, GA; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Memorial Gathering: 10:00 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Memorial Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
