

David was born on December 28, 1941, in Pleasant Plains, IL, the son of Bert and Goldie Mae Clevenger Ferguson. He married Joyce Kay Gibson on February 12, 1964, in Ashland, IL.
David served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a devoted semi-truck driver for many years. When David wasn’t on the road, he was working at home and occasionally taking time to relax. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and his animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nancy Brown; and stepsister, Clara Mae Curry.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ferguson of Auburn; three sons, Brian (wife, Brenda) Ferguson of Girard; Troy (wife, Amanda) Ferguson of Virden, and David “Scotty” (wife, Michelle) Ferguson of Auburn; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Merle, Wendell, and John; and several cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following visitation.
Memorial Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham with Pastor Larry Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Department of Defense.
