

Deborah L. Riley, 64, of Springfield, passed away at 3:31 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. Debbie was born on February 5, 1954 in Springfield, the daughter of Harry A., Jr. and Gertrude M. DeFrates Short. She married David R. Riley on June 30, 1973 in Springfield. Debbie was a 1972 graduate of Springfield High School. She attended Lincoln Land Community College and received her associates degree in Science. Debbie was employed by the State of IL with both the Secretary of State and DHS until her retirement. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and volunteered for APL. Debbie was an avid Cubs fan, loved animals, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren, Ava Marie and Madison A. Jordan. She is survived by her husband, David Riley of Springfield; two daughters, Kim (husband, Kris) Daughtrey of Springfield and Sarah (husband, Ardallion, Sr.) Jordan of Wesley Chapel, FL; six grandchildren, Holly, Alex, Emilie, Alexus, Breanna, and Malachi; five siblings, Linda (husband, Ron) Morris-Cooley of Petersburg, Theresa Gilmore of Gillespie, IL, Kevin (wife, Alice) Short of Springfield, Steven (wife, Susan) Short of Rochester, and Brian (wife, Debbie) Short of Tallula, IL; one aunt; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
