She was born December 16, 1954, in Sacramento, CA, the daughter of Clarence and Marian Croxton Dyment.
Debra graduated from Southeast High School in 1972 and earned her bachelor’s degree from St. John’s School of Nursing. She was employed with Methodist Hospital in Peoria as a LPN, retiring in 2017 due to health. Debra was previously employed with SIU School of Medicine and several Springfield area hospitals. She enjoyed dancing to any type of music, drawing, calligraphy, and traveling to the beach.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Debra is survived by her son, Adam (Amber) Helmkamp of Petersburg; daughter, Laura Helmkamp of Springfield; grandchildren, Kendrik, Kenleigh, Kendyll, Ashton, and Aubrey Helmkamp; sister, Joy (Roger) Golden of Hillsboro; one nephew; and several cousins.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
