Debra Sue Johnson

Debra Sue Johnson, 58, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday January 24, 2016 at her home. She was born on November 5, 1957 in Springfield to Wilkins and Pauline Frances Cox Barbee. Debra married Jeff W. Johnson on August 23, 1980 in Springfield and he survives.

Mrs. Johnson is also survived by her two sons Christopher William (Julie Ann) Johnson and David Scott Johnson both of St. Louis, one brother Dr. Charles Leroy (Margaret) Barbee of Chanhassen, MN, one sister Sharon Kay (Jeffrey) Beierman of Loami and one sister-in-law Joanne Barbee of Alma, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Harold Eugene Barbee

Debra graduated from Springfield High School in 1975 and then worked for the Illinois Senate Republican Staff as a Secretary and Legislative Assistant for the General Assembly leaving in 2012 after 33 years of service. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday January 28, 2016 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road, with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4:00pm-7:00pm Wednesday at Bisch West.
