Dee Dee Mathes

Deloris "Dee Dee" Mathes, 68, of Springfield, died at 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Dee Dee was born on April 7, 1949 in Springfield, the daughter of Wayne J. and Ruby T. Hardin Moffitt. She married Michael Mathes on January 25, 1969 in Springfield. Dee Dee graduated from New Berlin High School. She worked for the Illinois Secretary of State as the Administrator of Benefits in the Department of Personnel and retired from there after 35 years. Dee Dee loved flower gardening and spending time with her family. Dee Dee was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Dan Buehrle; brother, John L. Moffitt; and nephew, Jackie Moffitt. She is survived by her husband, Michael Mathes of Springfield; her daughters, Dana Buehrle and Delane Orr, both of New Berlin; grandchildren, Kaelyn Buehrle of Loami, Austin Mathes of New Berlin, Connor (Taylor) Buehrle of Ft. Hood, TX, Steven Orr of New Berlin, and Michael Buehrle of New Berlin; step-granddaughter, Chelsea Dosset of Springfield; sisters, Joan Finn of CO, Linda (Glenn) Cox of Loami, and Kathleen (Lowell) Chandler of Litchfield; sisters-in-law, Norma Moffitt, Judy Mathes, Nancy (Dan) Schull, and Donna Mathes, all of Springfield; great-grandchild, Skyler "Chuck" Cross; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Cox officiating. Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
