I just found out about the loss of Lila, I am so sorry, my heart goes out to the family and friends. My Prayers are with you forever.

I wish I could’ve have spoken to her one last time or seen her. I’m her friend from Texas and she helped me in my religious journey. I will always have her in my heart and memories.

I Loved Miss Martin, she was my math teacher at St, Cabrini grade school. She use to hand out slow pokes to those of us who could answer her math quiz questions.  She once came to my work at St John’s Hospital Lab office and brought me a couple of pictures she had taken of me on Patrole in 8 th grade.  She was the best. See you went I get to Heaven Miss s Martin❤️

I just saw the passing of Miss Lila Martin. My heart felt condolences go out to all of her family. Miss Martin was was my teacher one year at St Patrick's grade school. She was an amazing teacher and I am quite sure she had a positive influence and impact on students and the religious she came in contact with. May God Rest her Soul as she enters the communion of saints.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Miss Martin, but I know she is in heaven.  Miss Martin was an accomplished lady and a truly holy person.  Her faith was something to behold.  She was my math teacher when I was in 7th grade at St. Cabrini. She also taught my sister and brother.  I remember her bringing used AT&T computer printouts for us to use the backs as scrap paper in order to show our work.  We were certainly lucky she donated her time to our school!

I am deeply sorry to hear of the passing of Lila. Lila was instrumental in sponsoring our family when they came over from another country. She introduced us to the catholic faith and was responsible for the start of my catholic education. I am forever grateful to her and her family, especially her sister Mary.  Mary was my godmother and sponsor when I became baptized and confirmed as an adult. Lila was a blessing to so many and her presence here on earth will be missed greatly. May she fly high with the angels above.

Remembering Lila from her teaching career and her love for teaching Math.  May she rest in God’s loving embrace.

Lila was a very giving, caring, sharing Catholic woman.  She will be remembered for the many, many, books, religious articles and knowledge of the Catholic Faith that she passed on to others and the families and children in need that she helped financially and with Catholic educations.  Rest in peace dear lady. You helped make the world in which you lived and  to those you came in contact better for having known you.

Lila was a wonderful friend to my mother and an incredible resource for her and our family during difficult times.  Her faith was unparalleled and her good works were countless.  She earned her halo and wings many times over.  How grateful I am to have had Lila touch the loves of our family.  May God give her peace.  Sending our love and prayers to the family.

I visited Lila every time I drove from St. Louis to Chicago and would stop in Springfield. We had wonderful long talks together. Probably the most intelligent and saintly woman I’ve ever known.. I knew her almost 40 year and and loved her dearly

The last time I saw Lila,  spring 2023 at the rest home. I gave her my hat to wear. And took her picture. I thought she looked terrific.

I am so sorry for the loss of Miss Martin.  She was my teacher at St. Cabrini School in 1972-1973.  She was a women of great faith and such a warm person and wonderful teacher.  She will be missed.  Karen (Moore) Bauer.

I wanted to let you know I am sorry to hear of the passing on Ms. Martin.  My mother, Margaret Jackson, and Aunt, Billie Bixler worked at AT&T with her.  They were all good friends.  When I was a little girl, and struggling with math, my Mom would take me to Ms. Martin for tutoring.  She was always very patient and kind to me.  I will never forget the tricks she taught me, to remember my equations.  When my mother passed several years ago, she even came to the funeral we celebrated for her at the Cathedral.  I will keep your family in my prayers, and be sure to say a special decade of the rosary for her.

My condolences to the family of Lila Martin. “Miss Martin” was my 6th grade teacher at St. Patrick’s school here in Springfield.  She started her teaching career   at St Patrick’s before going to St. Cabrini.  She was a dedicated teacher who taught with “tough love” to her students. Many a day, I along with the whole class,  would head to the blackboard to write, “I did not do . . .”, while she analyzed our handwriting to know the real culprit. Years later when I would meet her at church she would ask if I had seen so and so. Always interested in the well being of her students. She once told me that she would go to the funeral, if she saw where one of her students had died, and slip a Miraculous Medal in their coffin.  Always looking out for her students. May she enjoy her heavenly reward!
