

Denzil Lorene DeVaney, 83, of Springfield, passed away on January 1, 2017 with family by her side. Denzil was born on November 4, 1933 in Springfield, the daughter of Bessie and Ora Blankenship. She married John T. DeVaney on November 7, 1953 in Springfield, IL. She retired from BlueCross BlueShield. Denzil was a very loving, caring, and nurturing person. She loved her family and friends dearly. Her favorite pastime was RV traveling with her brothers and sisters. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband; one daughter, Carol Ann "Annie;" a grandson, John; a great-granddaughter, Makenna; brothers, Loren, Lewis "Sonny," William "Bill," Francis "Babe," Robert "Pode;" and sisters, Almeida, Helen, Juanita, Evelyn, Donna, Shirley, and Linda. She is survived by her daughters, Tanya (Sid) Spencer of New York, Rita (Randy) Standridge of Springfield; son, Mark (Kelly) DeVaney of Sherman; ten grandchildren, Heather (Will) Jennings, Angela (Craig) Reichert, Michelle (Brandon) Grimsley, Robin Standridge (Christopher), Danielle DeVaney (Mickey), Roxanne Standridge (Jerry), Alexandra DeVaney, Jennifer Spencer, Nathan (Brittany) Spencer, and Jeremy (Ryan) Spencer; 14 great- grandchildren, Savanna, Cheyanne, Kysen, Preslie, Kamdyn, Gracelyn, Kyla, Ava, Charley, Karigan, Amelia, Kashlyn, Sophia, and Grayson; brothers, Ora Jr. and Fred (Nancy) Blankenship; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
