Dee was born on June 8, 1933, the daughter of Emil H. and Geneva M. (Hurley) Christofferson. She was a woman of kindness, warmth, and quiet strength who found joy in the simple pleasures of life and in the people she loved most. She married Kenneth R. Raine, and he preceded her in death in 2009. Dee was baptized at West Side Christian Church in 2018, professing her faith and welcoming Christ into her heart.
Dee enjoyed spending her time crocheting beautiful creations, tending to her garden, taking walks, and caring for her beloved dogs. She especially treasured teaching her granddaughters how to sew, passing along skills and traditions that will be cherished for generations. She loved a good Chester Chicken meal, and when it came to Klondike Bars, her family would tell you she would do just about anything for one. It was these little things, along with her loving heart and warm spirit, that made her so special to those who knew and loved her.
Dee spent more than twenty years in Springfield, where she continued to make cherished memories following the death of her husband. During her granddaughter Madeline’s senior year of high school, Madeline moved in with Dee, who lovingly supported and encouraged her through nursing school at Lincoln Land Community College. In 2020, Dee moved to Auburn to live with Madeline, where they continued to share a close and special bond.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth R. Raine; son, Dennis Kevin Hevrin; parents; and sisters, LaVerne “Chris” Sutton and Margaret Miller.
Dee leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her son, Earl Hevrin; daughter, Bonnie Craig; stepsons, James M. Raine and John M. Raine; daughter-in-law, Karen Hevrin; twelve grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Her love and gentle spirit will continue to live on through each of them.
