Donald William "Bill" Collins

Bill was born June 19, 1942, in Springfield, IL, to Ethel and Charles Collins and was raised by Ethel and John Horrighs. He married Lois Sapp on September 12, 1964 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, in Sherman, IL.

Bill attended Lanphier High School and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He went on to work as an insurance agency owner of Lee O’Keefe Insurance Agency from where he retired. Bill was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He most enjoyed being his grandchildren’s biggest fan at their activities and events and taking his family on epic spring break vacations.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.

Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois of Sherman; daughter, Cinda (John) Pensabene of Sherman; son, Jeffrey (Meaghan) Collins of Sherman; five grandchildren, Sam Pensabene of Phoenix, AZ and Sophia Pensabene, Cole Collins, Ellie Pensabene, and Katie Collins, all of Sherman; sister, Terri Marbold of Springfield; and brother, Charles Edward Collins, Jr. of San Diego, CA.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at St. John Vianney Church, 902 St. John Dr., Sherman with Rev. George Phillip Nellikunnel, celebrant. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be limited capacity and face coverings will be required.
