

Donald E. Dalluge, 71, of Springfield, formerly of Decatur, died at 3:25 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2005 at St. John’s Hospice. Donald was born on June 24, 1933 in Assumption, IL, the son of Gerald E. and Edna Estep Dalluge. He married Mary A. Wheeler on March 2, 1958; she preceded him in death on January 5, 1990. He later married Joane Boward; she also preceded him in death on November 27, 2003. Donald worked for Caterpillar as a purchasing agent; retiring in 1986 after 32 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #105, Moose Lodge #684, Ionic Lodge #312 A.F. & A.M., and the New Salem Property Owner Association (NSPOA). Donald was also preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Virginia Luttrell. He is survived by one son: Mike (wife, Michelle) Dalluge of Mt. Zion; two daughters: Kate (husband, James) Peters of Springfield, Sue Mullen of Edinburg; two stepsons: Alan (wife, Dara) Chase, Jeffery (wife, Michelle) Woods, both of Springfield; two stepdaughters: Debbie Chase of Portland, OR, Kathleen (husband, Dan) DeSalle of Springfield; ten grandchildren including: Jackie and Ben Mullen, Ashley Dalluge, Joshua and Grace Peters; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2005 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, 2827 N. Oakland Ave., Decatur with Reverend A. B. Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery where the Macon County Honor Guard will perform military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospice, 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62702.
