Donald J. Gleason, Jr., 75, of New Berlin, passed away at 9:31 a.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at his residence. Donald was born August 9, 1942 in Chicago, the son of Donald and LeVerne Osterkamp Gleason, Sr. He married Donna Kaye Fulton on June 11, 1966 at St. Johns Lutheran Church. Donald was a graduate of Springfield High School. He proudly served in the United States Army as a sharpshooter from 1960 to 1963. Donald worked as a union carpenter. He retired from the State of Illinois Department of Revenue. He enjoyed all types of hunting and fishing, and loved spending time with his family, grandkids, and dogs. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Darin J. Gleason. He is survived by his wife, Donna Kaye Gleason of New Berlin; daughter, Lori (Chuck) Campbell of Springfield; daughter-in-law, Becky Gleason of Springfield; three grandchildren, Brandon Campbell, Hunter Gleason, and Reese Gleason, all of Springfield; one sister, Deidre (James) Beaton-Lillie of Oak Forest; a great-grandpuppy, Kasey Mae; and his beloved dog, Ruger. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
