

Donald Eugene Greenwood, 83, of Bradenton, FL passed away Friday, December 8, 2000 at Blake Hospital in Bradenton FL. Mr. Greenwood was born on October 20, 1917 in Alexander, IL the son of Fred and Ada Pointer Greenwood. He later married Alice Raisch and she preceded him in death on December 25, 1981. He then married Helen ''Jeri'' Keerns in Danville, IL at the Vermilion Heights United Methodist Church on May 29, 1983 and she survives. Mr. Greenwood was a veteran of World War II and was wounded while in France. He recieved the purple heart, two bronze stars and many other decorations. Mr. Greenwood worked as a supervisor for R.B. Evans Company for 35 years and then for the state of Illinois where he retired in 1983. He was a member of the Vermilion Heights United Methosist Church in Danville, IL and was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed playing golf, baseball, basketball, and bowling, as well as many others. He was preceded in death by his first wife; and his parents. He is survived by his wife: Helen ''Jeri'' of Brasenton, FL; one son: Robert (wife-Sharon) Greenwood of Palmetto, FL; one daughter: Patricia (husband-Edward) Dobey of Springfield; one brother: James Greenwood of Springfield; and one sister: Dorothy Williams of Springfield. Also surviving are two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, 3 step children, 7 step grandchildren, and twelve step great grandchildren. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2000. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev Gary Motta officiating. Entombment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
