Donald W. Hoagland

He was born in Prentice on August 6, 1931, the son of Fred and Olive (Hymes) Hoagland. Donald married Kathleen Brightman on November 13, 1954, in Steppingley, Bedfordshire, England.

Donald graduated from Ashland High School with the class of 1949 and went on to work for Ashland Farmers Elevator. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Donald always kept busy and was willing to help anyone he could. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathleen; son, Fred; daughter, Joanne; one brother; and 3 sisters.

Donald is survived by his granddaughters Jennifer (Chad Wellenreiter) Hoagland Fernandes and Rachel Hoagland; great-grandchildren, Cameron Dean (Paige Adams) Fernandes and Madison Dee Dorwart; and great-great-grandson, Wylder Fernandes, all of Jacksonville. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy (Gerald) Greenlee of Warrensburg.

In lieu of flowers, family suggest memorials to Moments Hospice.

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, until the time of the Ceremony at 11:00 a.m.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following services.
