

Donald Edward Mantle, 81, of Coral Springs, FL, formerly of Springfield, IL, went to be with Jesus on August 16, 2021. He was born on December 25, 1939 in Springfield to Albert Russell Mantle and Erma Ethyl Mantle.
Donald graduated from Illinois College with a degree in chemistry. During his career, he worked his way up from a chemist to a Vice President in the Pharmaceutical Industry. He was also a member of the American Chemical Society.
Don was a very positive person, always with a smile on his face. He always made sure to praise and compliment others when they did a good job. He was very friendly and easily stuck up conversation with whomever was around. Don was a very kind and patient person who never complained. He loved spending time with his family and friends. When he was physically able, he was involved with the United Methodist Church. He enjoyed riding his bike and hiking. He hiked the Grand Canyon twice. He always had a sweet tooth. He loved gummy bears and M&Ms. Above all, Don was one of the nicest men you could ever meet. He was a devoted Christian, and the best husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather that a family could have.
In Heaven, Donald is reunited with his parents; brother, Kenneth Russell Mantle; and sister-in-law, Gay Ellen Logan Mantle. Left behind to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 63 years, Marilyn Malensky Mantle; son, Michael David Mantle; grandchildren, Richie Mantle (Joscelyn), Patrick Mantle (Debby), Shannon Rivera (Gabe), and Tyler Mantle (Daniela); great-granddaughters, Ariana Rivera and Mariah Rivera; and the rest of his loving family and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where funeral service will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10:30 am, with Owen Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
