

He was born in Springfield on April 10, 1951, the son of James and Ethel Louise (Blankenship) Peyton. Donald married Debbie Brooks in Springfield on May 31, 1980.
Donald never knew a stranger and would help anyone in need. He was a very loving husband, father, and papa. Donald attended Springfield High School and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps where he worked as a lineman for four years. He also worked in maintenance for the Orchard Park Apartments and additionally did maintenance on his own for local houses. Donald made sure no one went without heating or air conditioning during the hot summer and cold winter months. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, dirt track racing, and riding his motorcycle. Donald’s biggest joy in life was raising his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Ronald Peyton; brother, Jim Peyton; sister, Elaine Crowell; infant sister, Ann Marie Peyton; and father-in-law, Harold Brooks.
Donald is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughters, Loriel (Sean) Towery of Marietta, GA, Tonya (Corey) Lash of Springfield, Heather Peyton of Springfield, Amber (Brandon) Smith of Springfield, and Lindsey (Anthony) Harrison of Sherman; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Zachary, Nicholas, Peyton, Chloe, Braelyn, Kaimen, Willa, Adilene, Keslynn, and Crimson; great-grandchildren, Brycen and Aria; brothers, John (Connie) Peyton of Indiana and Robert Peyton of Iowa; sisters, Mary (Hobart) Murphy of Chatham and Sylvia (Thom) Sherertz of Springfield; mother-in-law, Jane Brooks; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL 62703. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield.
Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery with Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the United States Marine Corps.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
