

Don was born May 27, 1935, in St. Louis, MO, the son of William Thomas and Oma M. Bowlin Walker. He married Mary Catherine Schilli on January 9, 1954, in St. Louis, MO.
Don graduated from St. Mary’s High School in St. Louis and sold Better Men’s clothing at Famous Barr for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Church. Don enjoyed woodworking and specialized in birdhouses and outdoor furniture. He also enjoyed bowling, billiards, ballroom dancing, and baseball, playing for years in the spring and summer leagues in Forest Park in St. Louis. Don was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved his grandchildren dearly and was known to them as “Pawcaw.”
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Walker.
Don is survived by his wife of 67 years, Cathy Walker of Springfield; son, Donald E. (Karen) Walker Jr. of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Renee (Jeff) Vose of Springfield; grandchildren, Brandy (Travis) Dauby of St. Louis, Kristin Walker of Los Angeles, CA, Casey Walker of Chicago, and Connor, Ethan, and Abigail Vose, all of Springfield; and great-grandsons, Aiden and Gavin Dauby.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Church, 722 S. 12th St., Springfield, IL. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Isaacson, S.J.C., celebrant.
Private family burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Crystal City, MO.
