

He was born on September 24, 1939, in Bardley, Missouri, to Cecil E. Williams and Pearl M. (Ingram) Williams. He was raised on a farm near Bardley before moving to Manchester, Illinois, where he attended Jacksonville High School.
On October 11, 1958, he married Sandra Snyder. Together, they shared nearly 68 years of marriage and raised their family.
Don began working at a young age, cutting and hauling logs with his father and selling them to local sawmills. He spent more than 40 years in the logging industry before purchasing his own semi-truck and becoming an owner-operator. He spent the next 24 years on the road hauling freight across the country before retiring at the age of 78.
Don enjoyed visiting with family and friends, telling stories, and sharing a laugh. He was known for his quick wit, strong work ethic, and the many friendships he made throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Williams of Palmyra, IL; his children, Tina (Eric) Bender of Springfield, IL, Kevin (Abbey) Williams of Palmyra, IL, Angela (Kevin) Hamell of Taylorville, IL, and Amanda (Michael) Turner of Springfield, IL; his brother, Larry (Susan) Williams of Rochester, IL; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Darla Williams; his brothers, Cecil Junior Williams and Lonnie Williams; and his sister, Lucille Steele.
Don will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his years of hard work, and his ability to make others smile.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30am on Friday June 26, 2026 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. The family will greet friends from 10:00am until the time of service Friday at Bisch West.
