Donna L. Gurnsey

She was born in Springfield on May 28, 1950, the daughter of John William and Eileen (Conavay) Bane.

Donna attended Ursuline Academy and Lanphier High School. She worked and retired from the Department of Revenue at the State of Illinois. Donna loved travelling with her family and hosting Thanksgiving. She was most proud of her grandchildren, attending all of their sporting events.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Connie Porter.

Donna is survived by her stepsons, Zak (Jenny) Gurnsey of Springfield and Nate Gurnsey of Springfield; daughter, Cassie (Marcus) Gurnsey-Hopkins of Springfield; grandchildren, Ella and Everett Hopkins and Lydia, Emma, Ivan, and Iyla Gurnsey; and special niece, Jodi Porter, as well as several other extended family members; and her beloved dog, Bow.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 S. Grand Ave. West, Springfield.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery with Sarah Bloomfield officiating.
