She was born on July 22, 1940, in La Crosse, WI, the daughter of Don and Frances (Clements) Cass. Donna married Ernest Neathery on August 29, 1959, in Springfield, IL. They were married for 64 years. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2024.
Donna graduated from Springfield High School and earned her master’s degree from Sangamon State University. She went on to work as a high school English teacher at Glenwood High School. Donna was formerly of Chatham. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending weekends with her family.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Leigh Ann Homeier of Palmyra; son, Eric Neathery of Girard; grandchildren, Tiffany Kent of Springfield, Tessa (Mitchell) Hudson of Elkhart, and Tyler Neathery of Girard; sister, Kathy Miner of Reno, NV; great-grandchildren, Kaeley, Garrett, and Logan Kent, Haizel Neathery, and Caleb Hudson; and beloved dog, Chase.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
The family is being served by Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
