Donna J Vasconcellos

She was born in Springfield, August 24, 1934 the daughter of William V. and Mary (Jensen) Dowson. She married Cletus E. “Buster" Vasconcellos February 15, 1952, in Kampsville, IL and he preceded her in death in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amy Hudson in 1993, and her sister, Alma Dowson-Sunley.

Donna worked at the Illinois State Bar Association and later co-owned and operated Wagon Wheel Western Wear for many years with her husband.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield. She loved gardening and especially tending to her flower beds. Some of her fondest memories were spending time with her friends Roller Skating at Moonlight Gardens in Springfield and showing livestock with 4H and county fairs. She found great joy being with her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandsons

Surviving are her daughter, Karen Hudson of Springfield, her grandson, Ryan (wife Amy) Hudson of Cedar Falls, IA, two great grandchildren, Cole and Jace Hudson, her sister, Mary (Delbert) Smith of Springfield and several nieces and nephews

A private family graveside service will be held in Old Salem Cemetery, west of Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may direct memorial contributions in her memory to St. Jude's Children’s Hospital, Mayo Clinic Research or the American Cancer Society.
