Doris Lou Rockenbach

Doris L. Rockenbach, 87, of Springfield, formerly of Chatham, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017, at St. Johns Hospital. She was born November 16, 1929, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, to William Earl and Mary Brockhouse Markham. She married Edwin Norman Rockenbach on August 7, 1947. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Rocky in 2010, parents and sister, Virginia Baxter. She was a co-owner, with her husband, of Rockenbachs Steak House in Virden for 13years. Mrs. Rockenbach was a member of Springfield Ceramic and Craft Club. She worked for Horace Mann Insurance Company for 21 years in the underwriting and proposal department, retiring in 1994. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Joy (Jeff) List of Springfield; son, Roy (Paul Riggs) Rockenbach of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Roxanne (Rick) Hampton of Ashland, Brandon Nizzio of Springfield, Bryan Rockenbach of Phoenix, AZ, Heather List of Springfield; great grandchildren, Summer Koehler, Samantha Koehler, Olivia Hampton, and Jacob Hampton; great-great granddaughter, AdaLynn Logue; niece Sandra Juricic. Her family will greet friends from 8:30am until the time of the funeral service at 10:30am, Thursday, July 20, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham, with Reverend Sara Isbell officiating. She will be laid to rest at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
