Doris E. Sachtleben

Doris was born near Greenview, IL, on June 25, 1923, to Fred W. and Nellie (Sampson) Weidhuner.

She graduated from Greenview High School in 1941, after which she attended Brown’s Business College in Springfield. She worked in Springfield until her marriage.

Doris married John G. Sachtleben Jr., on April 4, 1944, in Indianapolis, IN. After their return to the Greenview area upon his discharge from the Army, Doris worked in the home and helped John on the farm. She loved working in the yard, especially with her roses and lilies. She also enjoyed working with ceramics and made numerous porcelain dolls. Most of all she loved her family.

Doris was most recently a member of West Side Christian Church, where she had been active in the Beau Knots Sunday School Class and Senior Adult Ministry. She had been previously active in the Greenview Fortnightly Club; Lawrence Rayburn Post American Legion Auxiliary; and Greenview Christian Church, where she had taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and served for many years as Secretary/Treasurer of the Missions Committee.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents; and two sisters, Eileen Altig and Nedra Howell; and infant twin grandsons.

Doris is survived by her daughter Barbara, son Dale and daughter-in-law Susan, all of Springfield; grandson Christopher, and great-grandson Arlo, both of Long Beach, CA; and granddaughter Rebecca (Quentin) Knobloch of LaGrange Park, IL.

Funeral services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL, 62711. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, from 4 p.m. until the time of services lead by Mike Harney and Cindy Lash at 6 p.m.

Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview, IL on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at 2p.m.
