Dorothy Marie Rutherford Gray Tate Coton, 95, of Springfield, formerly of Auburn, passed away at 2:11 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Aperion Care Capitol. Dorothy was born April 1, 1923 in Girard, the daughter of Percy and Eileen Wroughton Rutherford. She had previously been married to James William Gray, Owen Tate and Alfred Fred Coton. Dorothy owned and operated Dorothy Gray Beauty Salon on North 4th Street for over 35 years. She did nails at the Auburn Nursing Home for five years after. She enjoyed fishing and taking care of her family. She was also preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and brother, Lynn Jackson Rutherford. She is survived by her son, Jim (Susan) Gray of Springfield; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nephew, Steve (Sharron) Maygar. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Private family ceremonies will be held at a later date.
