Dorothy Marie Franklin, 47, of Springfield, passed away at 6:06 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at St. John's Hospital. Dorothy was born August 31, 1963 in Springfield, the daughter of Otho Clendenny and Mary Harmon. She married James Franklin on February 22, 1980 in Springfield. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was a great mom, grandma, sister, aunt, friend and daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dianna Carter; and grandparents, Dorothy and Pete Peterson. She is survived by her husband, James Franklin of Springfield; two daughters, Donna (husband, George) Young and Rose LoPinto, both of Springfield; long-time companion, Linda Turner; several grandchildren; four brothers, Leon (wife, Karla) Taber, Bobby Wahlsmith, both of Springfield, Randy Clendenny and Ronnie (wife, Ellen) Clendenny, all of Nebo, IL; two sisters, Laura Haynes, Debra (husband, Bob) Clark; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family ceremonies were held.
