Dorothy J. Frohn

Dorothy was born October 23, 1934, in Emden, MO, the daughter of Vernie and Frances Wood Fohey. She married Franklin L. R. Frohn on March 23, 1957, in Mendon, IL.

Dorothy graduated from Hunnewell High School in MO and attended beauty school. She operated a beauty shop out of her home and later was employed at Springfield Manor and Regency Nursing Home. Dorothy was a member of Grace Church, formerly Berean Baptist Church for over 40 years. She always saw the good in people and was a very positive and compassionate person. Dorothy enjoyed reading, helping others, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six siblings, Delores McElhoe, Donald (Verna) Fohey, Laverne (Les) Borden, Glenn Fohey, Virginia (Melvin) McCrorey, and infant brother, Kenneth Fohey; and sister-in-law, Florence Fohey.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Franklin L. R. Frohn of Springfield; children, Paula J. (Jeff) Frohn of Springfield and Steven (Regina) Frohn of Algonquin, IL; grandchildren, Jonathan (Jennifer) Frohn of Arlington Heights, IL, Justin (Mindy) Frohn of Algonquin, IL, and Brittney (David) Morales of Elgin, IL; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Jay Fohey of Palmyra, IL; sister-in-law, Barb Fohey of Joplin, MO; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

The family will host a visitation and ceremony at Grace Church, 3401 S. 6th Street, Springfield, on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. and a ceremony to follow at 5:00 p.m.

Graveside Ceremony will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
