Dorothy L. Girdler

Dorothy Louise Girdler, 93, of Virden, passed away on Monday April 20, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born on March 21, 1922 in Lincoln, IL., to Earl Louis and Ebba Nelson Pierson. She married Hugh Girdler on January 3, 1942 and he preceded her in death on October 13, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her son Stanley Girdler.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Alice Girdler of Virden, four grandchildren: Mitchel Girdler of Valparasio, IN., Vickie (Scott) Lewis of Springfield, Ricky (Dawn) Meisenheimer and Dawn “Chicken” (Brian) Willoughby both of Virden, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy worked for the University of Illinois Division of Services for Crippled Children for 25 years retiring in 1982. She was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30pm on Thursday April 23, 2015 at McLean Cemetery in McLean, Illinois. The family will meet friends from 9:30am-11:00am Thursday at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street, and memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals For Children. Services entrusted to Bisch and Son Funeral Home.
