Dorothy Shiffer

Dorothy Shiffer, 57, of Springfield, passed away at 11:10 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2002 at her residence. Dorothy was born December 29, 1944 in Centralia, IL the daughter of Thomas and Elsie Baldridge Kent. She married Robert T. Shiffer December 13, 1969 in Centralia. She was employed as a clerk for Horace Mann Insurance Company for several years. She was also employed by Springfield College in Illinois as Secretary to the Register for 19 years. She was a member at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Robert of Springfield; three daughters: Robin (husband, Troy) Vansacik, Krista Shiffer both of Springfield, Amanda Shiffer of Prairieville, LA; four grandchildren: Jacob, Josh, Joey and Alyssa; seven sisters: Opal, Vera, Myrtle, Norma and Marilyn Kent all of Centralia, Lois (husband, Leland) Allen of Iuka, IL, Emma (husband, John) Daum of Charleston, IL; two brothers: Donald (wife, Delores) Kent of Lafayette, LA, Harold (wife, Barbara) Kent of Centralia, IL and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2002 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church with Reverend Rodney Schwartz and Sister Carol Sue Daniel O.S.F. officiating. Body has been donated to science. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospital Hospice Program, 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62702. The family of Dorothy Shiffer is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
