

Dorothy H. Twyford, 92, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday January 24, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born on February 8, 1922 in Jacksonville, IL., to Harry and Leona Stubblefield Fernandes. She married Kenneth Twyford on January 11, 1942 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death in 1996.
Mrs. Twyford is survived by her two daughters: Lana Craig of Palmyra, IL., and Lynn Buckley of Edwardsville, IL., four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Dorothy worked for the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture and retired after 29 years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Lallah Rookh Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Douglas Avenue Methodist Church, and she was active in the Clayville Craft guild participating in a quilting group. Dorothy was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and University of Illinois Basketball fan. She will be missed by her family and many great friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday January 29, 2015 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road, with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4-6pm Wednesday at Bisch West.
