My deepest sympathy to the family of Dottie. I knew her for at least 50 years or more, back when she and her husband had a restaurant and plus being in sorority with her. She was a very kind and gracious woman. Was very saddened to learn of her fall. May you find comfort at this time, just knowing of the wonderful and long life she had, leaving you with great memories.

God bless Dorothy's family and friends. As a member of Douglas Ave. UMC some years ago, I met Dorothy. I am married now (was single then). Our loss is Heaven's (and Dorothy's) gain! Hugs to all who miss her.  Thanks to the family for providing the old time photographs.

My sincere sympathy to Dottie's family. I had the pleasure of knowing Dottie through Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years - attending conventions, banquets, service projects. Dottie was a sweetie - her sparkling blue eyes when she shared a story - always glad to see you - always ready for fun. She will be missed by many.

Dorothy and  I were best friends for over 50 years. We had a lot of fun together abd went through a few hard times too. But through it all our friendship remained strong. I will miss her, but never forget her. I love you Dorothy!  your best bud Shirley

It is hard to explain how much our family will miss Dorothy.  She's been a part of us since she and her family moved onto Feldkamp in 1958.  For years, she came to dinner with us each Friday night.  She considered Mom the sister she never had and Mom considered her the same.  I still know her phone number by heart because I always knew I could call her when I needed to.  Some of our favorite expressions are ones we heard from Dorothy when her Portuguese temper got the better of her.  Dorothy, we'll miss you more than you know and you will always be in our hearts.  You were part of the Castles family and we loved you.

The angels welcomed the newcomer with open arms - Heaven, as we know it, just got a bit better.

Dear Lana, Lynn, Matt, Abby, Sarah and Michael,  I am so sorry for your loss.  Your Mom/grandma was a blessing in my life.  She is known to me as my Springfield Mom.  As a young 22 year old bride and groom (Rick and Millie), our first home was next door to Dot and Kenney.  So many memories and life lessons we are blessed with.  Dot taught me to cook and bake and sew, and Kenney taught us to garden - what wonderful times we've had with your family - Rick and I have been married 33 years now, and over all that time stayed so close to your Mom. Dear Lana and Lynn, I just saw that your Mom had passed.  I have not talked to her for a long while. I love your Mom, she was a good friend to my Mom.  Mom was so closed and Dorothy was such an open person.  Guess that is how that relationship worked.  May you all remember the good memories.  You both take care.

Dear Lana and Lynn, Your mom has been on my mind lately. She was a very special lady, and such a dear friend to my mom. She was always so good about phone calls and cards even though my moms memory faded so early. 
  I will always remember all the fun times we and our parents had in our youth. Dot was such a good cook. There wasn't many things she couldn't do.
