Edgar was born in Springfield on August 12, 1928, the son of Amon F. and Lorena (Cooper) Curtis. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Alvin and Thomas Curtis.
Edgar graduated from Concordia Lutheran Grade School and Feitshans High School. He later served in the United States Army during the occupation of Korea. Edgar was a lifelong resident of Springfield and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Edgar joined the Teamsters Local Union 916 in 1948 and retired from R.A. Williams in 1990.
He is survived by his son, Edgar J. (Sharon); daughter, Nancy K. Jackson; sisters, Lola G. Bryant and Lorena McCurley; four grandchildren, Susan K. (Mike) Sunley, Steven J. Curtis, Katie (Dan) Rogers, Andrew Geist; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Springfield Memorial Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Private ceremonies were held.
