

Edith R. Crawford, 79, of Riverton, died on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at her home. Edith was born July 11, 1929 in Springfield, the daughter of John and Helen Stockton Ramey. She married George W. Crawford on March 9, 1953. He preceded her in death in June 8, 1987. Edith attended Lanphier High School. She was a member of the Riverton Eagles and Bunko at "R" Club. Edith enjoyed Bingo at Victory Hall and playing Party Poker on the computer. She loved watching hummingbirds, indulging in reading the tabloids, which she jokingly referred to as her "bibles", and she especially loved attending her grandchildren's various activities. Edith was known as a classy "lady" who will be remembered for her good sense of humor and her easy-going yet proud and caring nature. Preceding Edith in death were her parents; her grandson, Jason Crawford; and her siblings, John Ramey and Helen Thomas. She is survived by her children, George W. Crawford, Jr. and Darrell (wife, Christine) Crawford of Riverton, Todd (wife, Melinda) Crawford of Springfield, Judy Willett, Cheryl (husband, Ed) Ludtke, Pam Crawford, all of Riverton, and Kim (husband, Bobby) Katzenmaier of Springfield; six grandchildren, Dawn Brooks, Scott Willett, Tonya Prichard, Josh Crawford, George Crawford, and Emma Crawford; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her sisters, Dorothy Nolan of Springfield and Betty Walsh of Cantrall; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL 62703. A funeral ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Paul J. Olson, officiating.
