Edith "Edie" Mae Silsby

Edie was born on September 2, 1946, in Beardstown, the daughter of Ernest and Iva (Pedigo) Chasteen. She married Lloyd Eugene “Gene” Silsby on March 30, 1962. He preceded her in death in 2006.

Edie worked as a nurse at Memorial Medical Center for over 20 years until her retirement in 2009. She enjoyed sewing and loved her pets with all her heart. Edie was a woman of strong faith and was a member of the Auburn Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness. She was an amazing mother and always put her family first.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Frederick Silsby; daughter, Elizabeth Ann; and brothers, Ralph, Wayne, and Glen Chasteen.

Edie is survived by her daughter, Edith “Marie” Silsby-Zaidle of Witt; son, Everett (Tabitha) Silsby of Industry, IL; grandchildren, Lindsey (Justin) Wellenkamp, and Jared Silsby, both of Beardstown; and great-grandchildren, Reid, Piper, and Tucker Wellenkamp and numerous nieces, nephews and one cousin Maryann Duncheon of Oakford, IL.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

The family will host a private graveside ceremony at a later date at Beardstown City Cemetery.
